The Key to Remaining Self-Empowered in Difficult Times

The Key to Remaining Self-Empowered in Difficult Times

A self-empowered person is someone who’s confident that they can hold their own, regardless of what’s happening around them.  It’s the ability to maintain a vibration of stability, security, and inner peace, even when faced with another person’s fear.  And true self-empowerment is a state of being that you can achieve in good times and in difficult times alike.

From an energy mastery perspective, the ability to empower ourselves is one of the most vital skills we can acquire.  Because having control over our own personal vibration – regardless of those around us – is crucial to our joy and our ability to deliberately create.

And the good news is, that your ability to unconditionally empower yourself can be strengthened with practice and attention.

Here are 3 energy mastery keys to help you empower yourself, even in difficult times:

Empowerment Key #1:  Give yourself permission to feel your feelings.

Most of us are in the habit of disconnecting from, minimizing, or negating our feelings.  And this is usually because we were trained early on to place other people’s happiness above our own.  So we learned to be likable and agreeable – even when we were feeling unhappy and insecure.

But unless we can honestly acknowledge how we’re feeling, there’s just no way we can effectively navigate difficult times and situations.  Our emotions bring us moment-to-moment wisdom and information that naturally guide us toward the experiences we most desire.

To navigate difficult times and people, we must become willing to feel ourselves and to acknowledge when something doesn’t feel good.  And to then make ourselves enough of a priority to make a different choice.

So give yourself permission to feel the full range of your emotions. Emotions are simply energy in motion.  They rise and fall on their own, so there is no need to try to control them.  Use your breath to welcome your emotions to the surface where they can be acknowledged and honored for the information they hold.   If you prioritize feeling good, you will always be led toward situations and people that are in your highest and best good.

Empowerment Key #2:  Learn to honor your inner “yes” as well as your inner “no.”

Every time we say “yes” when we mean “no,” we diminish our power.  And in choosing to remain in an environment that feels toxic or unbeneficial, we only make that difficult experience worse.

Part of empowering yourself is protecting your own boundaries, rather than overriding them to make others happy.  It’s not anyone else’s job to hear, respect or listen to our boundaries; it’s up to each of us to advocate for ourselves.

You can empower yourself to navigate difficult times by consciously deciding that your “no” means NO.   No, you do not need to engage in conversations that suck your energy.  No, you do not need to bring your energy down just because someone you love is having a difficult time.

You have both the right and the responsibility to uphold your inner boundaries, even when doing so may upset others.

This may feel challenging in the beginning, so remind yourself of the rewards.  Not only will you feel less resentment towards others, but you’ll also have more integrity within yourself.  Remember that what you feel is important.  What you think is important.  You are important.  You do not need to allow the difficult times of others to derail your clarity and good mood.

Empowerment Principle #3:  To navigate any difficult time or situation, deliberately focus on the benefits, opportunities, and positive aspects of yourself and your life.

There are only two basic positions you can take in relation to anything in your life. You can either focus on what you perceive is going wrong, or on what you perceive as going right.  And when you understand that what you focus on expands, you discover that the most empowering thing you can do is to focus on your positive aspects.

With the power of your focus, you can zoom in to any version of reality you desire. You can use the mechanism of your mind to find fault or to look for things to praise. You can observe what’s missing, or you can appreciate all that you already have. And whatever reality you direct your focus toward, just know that that reality will expand.

Focusing on the positive aspects of any person or situation – even when it appears to be going sideways – brings much-needed, soothing relief.

It’s a way of making peace with where we currently stand, even as we’re reaching for more.

Difficult times are an inevitable part of our life experience because contrast is an inevitable part of life.  But in every moment in time, we have the ability to choose which side of the contrast we will focus on.  Will we focus on the current difficulty or the clarity and expansion that the difficulty is leading us to?   As a seasoned deliberate creator, know that you have the tools to direct your attention toward whatever reality that you desire to unfold.

Law of Attraction 2.0: What Does it Mean to Take Aligned Action?

What is missing in most teachings about the Law of Attraction is an understanding of what it means to take aligned action.  Some teachers assert that action – even radical action – is the key to manifesting any goal.  Others teach deliberate creation as solely a matter of energetic alignment.  Thoughts and feelings are what attract like vibrations, they reason, so action isn’t really required.  But the sweet spot of deliberate creation lies at the midpoint of these two philosophies.  The sweet spot is learning how to take aligned action.

There is a huge difference between actions that are backed by energetic alignment and those that are not.  In fact, they are entirely different states of being that produce dramatically different results.  When you understand these differences, you’ll appreciate the many benefits of acting only from a state of energetic alignment.

The Alignment Factor

To begin to understand the difference between aligned action and non-aligned action, consider this:  Why is it so much easier to wake up early to go on vacation, than to wake up early for work?   The action of getting up early is the same in both cases.  And yet one action typically evokes joyful anticipation while the other triggers some internal resistance.  The reason for this has everything to do with our internal state of alignment

You see, as human beings, we are made up of much more than flesh, blood and bone.  Energy is the force that animates our bodies and minds, and all that we perceive to be solid.  The thoughts we think carry a certain frequency of energy.  The beliefs and expectations we hold generate a particular frequency of energy.   So do the moods and emotions we experience on a moment-to-moment basis.

When the energy of our thoughts, expectations, and feelings are in resonance with one another, we are in an internal state of alignment

And alignment draws us easily into action toward the things we desire.  But when our thoughts, expectations, and feelings are not aligned with our desires, we experience resistance.  And maybe you’ve noticed, actions taken from a state of resistance are not smooth or easy, nor do they produce great results.  When our actions are not backed up by energetic alignment, they usually create more chaos than they soothe.

Using action to overcome internal resistance is a recipe for burnout.

Some advocate simply using willpower to push past resistance.  Our culture abounds with sayings like, “Fake it ‘til you make it,” and “Feel the fear and do it anyway.”  But forcing ourselves into action to overcome an internal misalignment of energy is like paddling upstream against a raging river.  In the same way, the river’s current eventually overpowers a boat, the momentum of our energy will always win out.

Jumping into action before we’ve accomplished internal alignment with our intentions is a sure recipe for creating exhaustion and frustration.   We get depleted because we’re using internal energy that we don’t have in an attempt to create an external result. This action-only approach is the culprit that drives our addictions to caffeine and other stimulants.  Yes, they provide short-term motivation, but at the cost of long-term burnout.   Taking misaligned action is like using an electronic device that is relying only on battery power.  But aligned action, fueled by inspiration, is like plugging in and being fully charged by a live electrical current.

The key to aligned action is to line up ahead of time.

You will radically increase your effectiveness in all things if you make it a priority to align your internal energy before you take external action.  For example, if you’re about to take a break from work to connect with your kids, align with this action beforehand.  Think about the experience you want to co-create with them, and feel that experience within you now, in advance of your rendezvous.  Recall a time when you felt connected, when you laughed easily, or when you explained something with clarity.

The more prepared you are internally for whatever interaction you’re about to engage in, the more joyfully it will unfold.

Think of it this way: Could you realistically expect to enjoy a great meal if you weren’t hungry? Would you expect to do well on a five-mile run if you hadn’t stretched out ahead of time?  Of course, you wouldn’t. You would give yourself the best opportunity to succeed by warming up to whatever activity you were about to engage in.  And it works the same way with taking aligned actions.

And so, prior to sitting down at your desk to work, mentally rehearse everything you love about your job. Make a mental list of all your talents and past successes. Think about the positive aspects of the project you’re working on. Prepare your internal environment for an effortless, easy, exhilarating experience.

When the universe throws you the ball, so to speak, you have to be both willing and ready to catch it.

And this means positioning yourself in the most advantageous stance ahead of time. Train yourself in advance. Believe in your abilities. Reminisce about past successes. Visualize what you want to unfold and how you believe you will feel. These inner actions are powerful. They shift you into a state of internal alignment.

Actions that are taken after we’ve deliberately fostered this kind of internal environment of alignment yield effortless, almost miraculous results.

The Magic of Surrender

The energy of surrender is magical, in that surrender instantly brings ease to any situation, relationship or endeavor.  And while most people equate surrender with resignation, we serve our manifestations greatly by deliberately invoking the magic of surrender.

These universal principles will help you to relax into the magic of surrender and achieve your goals with far less effort.

Magic Of Surrender Principle #1:  There is a huge difference between power and force.

Of course, deliberately creating the life you desire requires a fair amount of focused intention. But in our quest to be intentional, we sometimes work too hard, and actually diminish our creative power.   And then our manifestation journey becomes one of hard work and struggle, not a joyful or natural unfolding.

Forcing something to happen – or to unfold according to a plan we’ve constructed in our minds – exhausts our spiritual resources. Because in believing that we must generate the good that flows to us, we pinch ourselves off from the infinite stream.

When we try to force a manifestation before its time, we are utilizing only our egos, the weakest part of our psychic anatomy.

The magic of surrender lifts us out of the smallness of this limited view and allows us to glimpse far bigger possibilities.

We’re at the height of our creative power when we’re going with – not against – the flow of life.  And this is why forcing the things we desire to happen only gets us so far.  To create results that are truly unpredictable, that launch us into a new way of being, we must surrender.

Magic Of Surrender Principle #2: Surrendering our will is not weakness. In fact, it’s one of the most powerful things we can do.

Invoking the power of surrender does not mean you are giving up or shirking responsibility.  In surrendering, you are doing your part in the manifestation of your desires.  You are trusting that all of life is guided by an intelligent force that is perfectly capable of guiding you as well.  The magic of surrender is that it connects us with deeper impulses that don’t always make sense to our logical mind.

All change requires stepping into the unknown, which usually brings with it a certain degree of discomfort.  It’s just not possible to grow into all that you desire to be while remaining perfectly comfortable.  To move forward, we have to leave some things behind, and this can feel risky or downright terrifying.  The solution to this is not to push ourselves to take bigger steps than we’re comfortable with.  We can focus instead on releasing the brakes that are holding us back from within.  In other words, when you run up against an inner or outer obstacle, the best thing to do is let go.

Stepping into the magic of surrender is an acknowledgment that you do not need to generate your abundance.  You only need to receive it.  You were born into an abundant universe in which wellbeing reigns supreme.  And you’re entitled to as much of that wellbeing as you allow yourself to receive.

Magic Of Surrender Principle #3:  Control is only an illusion, anyway.

Our egos are fueled by a constant need to know and to remain in control.  They have us believe that the path to manifesting our dreams is to plan things out in meticulous detail.  And this is what sets us upon the hamster wheel of working hard and striving.

Embracing the magic of surrender liberates us from this cycle of struggle, and frees us from the illusion of control.  When we give in to the magic of surrender, we open the door for divine guidance.

It’s when we go beyond our previous ideas of what’s possible that the magic in life really happens.  So in every aspect of your life, you can ask yourself this simple question:  How much success, abundance and magic do I want to experience?  And that’s how much surrender you need.

Surrender is directly correlated to satisfaction.

Remember that the ego’s role is to hold on to what’s safe and known. But the extraordinary life you desire lives outside this familiar realm.   The magic of surrender is that it activates a greater power.  Life begins to manifest through you, and you begin to create realities that you never thought possible.

How to Become a Vibrational Match to the Things You Desire

If you’re not yet manifesting the things you desire, it’s not because you haven’t asked for them.   It’s because you haven’t yet learned how to become a vibrational match to the things you desire.

But by applying a few basic universal principles, you’ll be able to manifest your deepest desires with greater speed and a lot more joy.   These universal principles are not difficult to understand.  They work the same for everyone, regardless of age, status, color, or culture.  You are the center of everything you attract into your life.  These 3 energy mastery principles will help you to align your vibration with all you’ve been hoping to receive.

Energy Mastery Principle #1:  You are an energy transmitter and receiver.

As human beings, we are both energy transmitters and energy receivers.  This means, in every moment we’re generating a vibration that is broadcasted to the far corners of the universe.  And what comes back to us in the form of our life experiences always matches the vibe we’re sending out.

The beliefs you hold carry a certain vibration, and make you receptive to experiences that confirm what you’ve already concluded to be true.  Likewise, your chronic moods, emotions and attitudes also become a vibrational set-point that you return to time and time again.

The vibrational set-point where you most dominantly reside is a bit like the set-point on a thermometer.  It regulates the range of vibrations you are easily able to allow into your experience.  And if your desires fall outside of that familiar set-point, they don’t easily flow into your experience.  Instead, they remain as unmanifested desires.

To attract a different frequency of experiences in your life, you must become conscious of what you’re currently a vibrational match to.  What comes back to you is always a vibrational match to what you are sending out.

Energy Mastery Principle #2:  To become a vibrational match to your desires, become more mindful of the words you speak.

The thoughts you think generate a vibration and place you in energetic proximity of other similar-feeling thoughts.  And when you voice your thoughts aloud, their attraction power grows exponentially.

Every word we speak generates momentum, and the more words we offer about what isn’t wanted, the more unwanted momentum we create.  Put simply, if we talk about everything that’s terrible, we not only feel terrible but are more likely to create terrible outcomes.  But thankfully, this also works in reverse.  With a little deliberate attention, we can align our words with the positive outcomes we desire to create.

Energy Mastery Principle #3:  As often as you can, reach for the vibration of gratitude.

The energy of gratitude is one of the highest vibrations in all of the universe.  With the same velocity that negative thinking repels the outcomes we desire, gratitude attracts them to us.   This is because gratitude causes us to focus on the abundance we already have, which expands us and increases our capacity for more.  In a state of gratitude, you become a vibrational match to the people, situations, and opportunities you desire.

Speak often about the things you appreciate, and acknowledge the blessings that are all around you. In so doing, you become a vibrational match to all that you desire.  Because you reside in a vibration where love, success, freedom, prosperity, and joy abound and invite them to flow easily into your experience.

This universe is unendingly abundant, which means that it has the ability to yield to us whatever experiences we desire. All we need to do to claim the abundance that is our birthright is to become vibrationally aligned with the energy of our own desires.

The Connection Between Meditation and Manifestation: How to Meditate to Manifest Your Desires

You probably already know that meditation has many, many benefits. It relieves stress, improves mood, supports better sleep, jump-starts creativity and boosts mental focus. But did you know that there is a profound connection between meditation and manifestation?

Here are some of the most common obstacles you may encounter when seeking to manifest your desires.  Once you understand the correlation between meditation and manifestation, you’ll easily open yourself up to the energy of your desire.

Manifestation Obstacle #1: Your energy field is easily influenced by those around you.

Manifesting your desires is all about calibrating your energy field on purpose.  It’s about getting clear about the vibration and energy you wish to attract into your life, and making sure that you are resonating in harmony with that vibration.

If you’re someone who is easily influenced by the energies of others, you lose some of your own creative control over your manifestations.  Rather than being like a clear beacon of light, attracting only the outcomes you wish, your energy gets scattered. And then you end up attracting some of what you want and some of what you don’t.

Meditation and manifestation go hand in hand because meditation trains your attention to become one-pointed. In this way, it helps you maintain your own point of attraction, regardless of what others are doing or feeling.

Manifestation Obstacle #2:  Past failures and self-doubts prevent you from clearly imagining a bigger or brighter future.

Researchers tell us that we think on average of 60 – 70,000 thoughts per day.  And the staggering thing is that about 90% of the thoughts we thought yesterday we’ll think again today – and tomorrow.

Patterns of thought become habitual. They limit us to a certain bandwidth of vibrations, which give rise to only a certain range of experiences.  And this explains the link between meditation and manifestation: To expand level of joy or abundance, we have to expand our perception.  We have to raise our vibration to make room for a new frequency of thoughts to enter.

This is exactly what takes place in meditation. In meditation, you become a passive observer of your thoughts rather than a slave to them.  And over time, their influence over you subsides.  Learning to meditate speeds the rate of your manifestations.  It immediately attunes your personal energy field with the energies you wish to bring into your life.

Manifestation Obstacle #3:  You get impatient or discouraged when something you want doesn’t materialize fast enough.

Our emotions always let us know when we’re allowing our desires to unfold, and when we’re unconsciously blocking them.

Emotions such as ease, appreciation, and joy indicate that we’re allowing the attraction of our desires into our life experience.  We’re in a state of non-resistance, so ideas, resources and opportunities easily find us.

But the opposite is true when our frequency dips into lower-frequency vibrations.   Emotions like doubt, disbelief, fear or frustration indicate that we’re actually resisting the very outcomes we’re working to manifest.  Resistance distorts the energetic signal we’re sending out.  Instead of being vibrationally aligned with the outcome, we desire, we’re aligned with the vibration of doubt.

Meditation and manifestation work together because meditation dissolves this resistance.  It silences our habitual thoughts, calms our nervous system, and creates resonance in our brainwaves.  And as our personal vibration rises to the frequency where ease, joy and abundance abound, our desires manifest easily.

Now that you understand the connection between meditation and manifestation, here are 7 steps to easily incorporate meditation into your life:

1) Find a place to sit or lie down where you’re not likely to be distracted, that feels calm and quiet to you.

2) Set a time limit. Ten to twenty minutes a day is plenty.

3) Close your eyes and drop into your body.  Notice any areas of tightness as well as areas of ease.  Be an observer.

4) Allow your attention to focus on the in and out of your breath.

5) When your mind wanders – and it will – simply bring your attention back to your breath.

6) Be gentle and patient with yourself.  It’s the nature of your mind to be outwardly focused.  Meditation is the art of training your mind to be inwardly focused. This is not a skill that is gained once and for all. It’s a moment-by-moment thing.

7) Close your daily meditation practice by acknowledging yourself, and thanking yourself for devoting time and attention to nurturing your connection with your inner world.

How to Use Imagination and Visualization to Manifest Any Desire

When it comes to manifesting a particular outcome that you desire to experience, imagination and visualization work hand in hand.  And when you understand the unique roles that each of these two faculties plays, you can hasten the manifestation of any desire.

Imagination and visualization are the origin of every manifestation.

Imagination is defined as “the faculty of forming new ideas, or images or concepts not present to the senses.”  And as such, imagination is one of the highest capabilities that we have access to as human beings.  To engage your imagination is nothing short of miraculous:  it’s to use the power of your mind to reach beyond the reality that currently exists.

Think about the visionaries in art, science, and philosophy whose contributions dramatically revolutionized our way of life.  You’ll see that each of these luminaries cultivated imagination and visualization to perceive a reality beyond current circumstances.  In other words, they gave more credence to their idea of what could be than to any voice of disbelief or doubt.  And they did not permit the reality of their past life experiences to write the script for what came next.

Imagination transports us to the powerful, invisible realm of pure potentiality that is the birthplace of every creation. And once you’ve glimpsed a higher possibility for some part of your life, visualization then grounds that vision in reality.

The following steps will help you engage the power of imagination and visualization to manifest any reality you desire.

Step #1: Use the contrast of what you don’t want to help you clarify what you do.

Every journey toward the experiences we desire to manifest begins exactly where we currently are.  And by definition, this means that every desire begins with an acknowledgment of some level of discontent.  But by consciously using imagination and visualization, you can turn this discontent into something creative and productive.

When you’re focused on what you don’t want or what hasn’t happened yet, your personal vibration plummets.  This is because focusing on unwanted causes your vision to narrow and your energy field to constrict.  And rather than expanding your inner vision into the realm of possibility, you limit yourself to creating more of the same.

Pay attention and you’ll see that those who have mastered the art of imagination and visualization have one important thing in common: They focus primarily on where they’re going; they don’t dwell on where they’ve been.

The first step in engaging your full creative power is to simply devote more of your attention on what you desire than on what you’ve already got.  In other words, think more about what you’ve learned than on the challenges that helped you learn them.  Appreciate all that you have rather than dwelling on the things that are not yet up to par.

Imagination and visualization really come down to focus. And in terms of manifesting your desires, your point of focus is everything.

Step #2:  Engage the power of your imagination to deliberately reach beyond your present circumstances.

Remember that every creation begins in the inner world of your imagination and emotions.  And when we nurture this seed with our daily energy and attention, it eventually blooms in the external world of form and phenomenon.

Most people point the powerful lens of their attention only on the specifics of what they’re already manifested.  But the real power of creation lies in focusing at the heart of what you desire, not its absence.

We engage the power of imagination when we choose to have faith in our un-manifested desires.  When we decide to emulate the great visionaries who lived before us, and think more about where we’re going than to dwell in where we’ve been. To reach beyond the status quo and tap into new resources and opportunities, simply choose thoughts that inspire rather than depress you.

What are you supremely thankful for?  What can you imagine unfolding in your future that causes you to feel gratitude right now?  Choose to believe that the best is yet to come, and remind yourself that you are worthy of seeing your visions fully actualized.  And finally, whenever you feel doubt or despair creeping in, remind yourself that you have the ability to deliberately shift your focus.

Step #3: Use visualization to anchor your desired outcome firmly in your mind.

“Neurons that fire together wire together.”  This is a more scientific way of stating the universal principle that “energy follows thought.”

As you clearly picture the outcome you desire to unfold in your life, you actually alter your vibration and your body chemistry. And this heightened state of being then influences your thoughts, your perceptions, your moods, and ultimately the actions you take.

Imagination and visualization are similar in that both practices take us beyond the limits of the status quo.  But whereas imagination is general, sweeping, and sometimes directionless, visualization is systematic and deliberate.  Visualization is playing the movie in your mind of exactly of what you want to see in your life.  Instead of simply imagining the smoother ride of a new car, it’s picturing the exact car you wish to drive.  And the more specific we are in our visualization, the more creative energy we summon toward that goal.
