How to Be an Influencer Rather Than Someone Who is Easily Influenced

Do you consider yourself an influencer, or a person who is easily influenced?   

Are you able to “hold your own” in pretty much any situation?  Can you maintain a vibration of stability, of security, of inner peace in the face of another person’s fear?  Are you able to stay focused on your intended outcome, even in an environment that is chaotic or unstable?

From an energy mastery perspective, these are among the most important questions we can ask ourselves.  Maintaining our personal vibration, regardless of those around us, is crucial to our joy and our ability to deliberately create.  

And yet, how often do we find ourselves feeling irritated by another person’s laziness, or on edge in response to their bad mood? 

Of course, it’s easy to blame them for the dip in our vibration. 

After all, if they’d just behave, we’d be happy, right?!

The problem is, asking other people to change to make us feel better gives them the power to influence our vibration.  And as deliberate creators, our first goal is to reclaim this power for ourselves.  

Here are 3 steps for becoming a generator of your own mood, attitude, and vibration – regardless of what others are doing around you:

Step #1:  Acknowledge that you and you alone are in control of your own vibration.

We often tense against situations that we perceive will be unpleasant, and this is for one reason only:  We believe other people’s energies have the power to influence our energy stream.  And this is simply not the case! 

We are each in charge of our own energy alignment, and we are the only ones who can deviate from it.  

Think about it:  Can anyone besides you put a thought in your mind?  Can anyone besides you create tension or ease within your body?  

Yes, other people can and do broadcast discordant vibrations.  Yes, other people can invite you into a lower frequency of consciousness.  And certainly other people carry on all manner of unpleasant conversation.  But you are the one who has to opt in to these experiences by choosing to give your attention to it, or not.  Which brings us to the next step.   

Step #2:  Distract yourself from the unwanted momentum. 

In every situation or interaction, there are an infinite number of things you can choose to turn your attention to.  One choice is to focus on the moment-by-moment unfolding of events.  You can watch every detail and hang on every word.  But when the momentum of a situation is going sideways, focusing on the details of it is unwise.  So instead, engage your power of focus and turn your attention toward something more pleasing.  

Is there a breeze blowing through the space where you’re located?  Are there fragrant scents wafting by?  Do you appreciate the colors or aesthetics of the environment you’re in?  Are there parts of your own body that feel especially comfortable and at ease?  

If you can’t find anything enjoyable about the environment you’re situated in, do your best to find a good-feeling thought.

What areas of your life are going great?  Is there an experience or event coming up that you’re especially looking forward to? What recent experiences have you had that were interesting or fun?  

By deliberately turning your attention to pleasant things, you separate yourself from unwanted momentum.  You stop being influenced by the energy around you, and become practiced at generating your own vibration.  And this is the first step toward feeling good, even when others are trying to bring you down.  


Step #3: Choose your mood, your attitude – and therefore, your vibration – in advance of any encounter.  

Before you drag your physical body into any new interaction or experience, make sure your energy body is prepared.  This means taking the time to tune yourself to the experience you’re hoping to create.   Imagine the energies of joy, expansion, ease, connection and wellbeing bubbling up within you.  Feel this frequency entering and uplifting every aspect of your being. The higher you raise your energy frequency level ahead of time, the easier it will be to sustain that high-flying vibration.    

When it comes to the way we live our lives, we are all faced with a fundamental choice.  We can allow the dominant frequency of the world around us to calibrate our energy field, or we can take responsibility for deliberately cultivating the energy we wish to live in.   In other words, we can allow others to influence our vibration, or we can influence our own.  One choice leaves us at the mercy of world events and other people’s actions and reactions.  The other choice returns us to our power to create the kind of world we desire to live in.

If You’re Always Searching For Something More, You Must Learn to Master Your Energy

It feels downright horrible to not get something you really want.  And that horrible feeling – while uncomfortable – is normal and even healthy!   This is because we’re designed with the power to fulfill every desire that arises within us.  So naturally, not manifesting an important desire leaves us wanting and unfulfilled.  But if we’re always searching for something more, we bind ourselves to a perpetual cycle of discontent.  And in a state of discontent, we simply can’t attract satisfying experiences.  

Here are 3 limiting beliefs that may be keeping you from a satisfying life because you’re always searching for more.  And an energy mastery shift you can instantly apply to break free from these limiting perceptions:  

Limiting belief #1: You’re always searching for something more because you believe there’s some final destination that you must reach.  

Our desires are continually under revision, because each of us is continually redefining what’s important to us.  And as a result, there is no final destination that once we arrive at will satisfy us forevermore.  Once we reach the top, the “mountain” we’re currently climbing becomes a new starting point for what’s next.  From each new vista, the next desire we wish to fulfill comes into view.

Limiting Belief #2:  You’re always searching for something more, because you believe that you have to control the timeline.    

In the same way that life unfolds in predictable seasons, the manifestation of every desire also occurs in seasons or phases.  Once you understand this process, you can relax into the natural timing of things.   

When you observe something you want and feel that initial rush of excitement, you’re being called toward an expanded reality.  The larger, wiser part of you knows what’s possible for you.  It knows what your next stage of evolution will bring.  That’s why you light up when you come into contact with something that triggers your potential.

Life is the co-existence of opposite forces. You begin a journey toward the future the moment you recognize that you want something different than what you currently have.  Like the proverbial carrot dangling from a stick motivates the mule to keep going, desire also inspires our forward progress.   But what most fail to understand is this is much more than a journey toward getting the thing we want.  It’s a journey of becoming.

Our desires are sparks that come forth from your Divine Self.  They are ignited within you for the purpose of expanding you into all that you are capable of being.  Yet too often, in our search for something more or different, we become fixated on the outer prize and lose sight of our inner evolution.   

Believing that we’ll finally be happy once we reach a certain milestone starts the pattern of always searching for more.    We tell ourselves things like, “Once I get a new boyfriend, then I’ll be happy.”  Or, “When I make more money (or have a baby, or lose weight, or have a home near the water…”).  Striving to meet the next external goal sets us on a lifelong journey toward a destination we can never reach.  And this is the trap we place ourselves in by always searching for more.  

The energy mastery solution for fixating too intently on the future is to drop into gratitude for everything that you already are.  

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with setting future goals to measure our progress against.  But we set ourselves up for disappointment when we postpone our happiness until those goals are realized.  Remember that what you’re really seeking from the fulfillment of any desire is an experience of feeling a certain way.  The sensation of bringing ourselves into energetic alignment with our desires is life-giving.  

If you’re always searching for something more and feeling dissatisfied, take this as a cue to drop deeper into gratitude.  Make a list of all you appreciate about yourself, your life, and your own process of evolution as it exists in this moment.   Remind yourself that you were born into a universe that is continually expanding.  And, as an integral part of this infinite universe, you are expanding right along with it.  Actively surrender into the expansion that your desire is calling you toward.  This is the key to more easily realizing your goals, and to soothing yourself along the way to them.

Nurturing the Inner Relationship with Your Desires

 

Most of us relate to our unfulfilled desires as goals looming out in the future that we’re slowly making our way toward.  But when you understand the world of energy, you realize just how inaccurate this paradigm is.  In the realm of energy, past, present and future all co-exist.  And this means that in every moment, there are actually thousands of possible future realities that you could manifest.  And you have a right-now, present-time relationship with each one of your desires.  

The first step to manifesting any desire is to improve your relationship with it.  This is to say, to deliberately flow loving energy toward it, rather than the energy of doubt or angst.  In this way, you strengthen the quality of your relationship with your desire and magnetize it more quickly into your experience. 

Nurturing the inner relationship between you and your desire is like developing any other friendship.

The idea that you have a real-time relationship with your desires may sound strange or esoteric.  But really it’s no different than the relationship you share with the important people in your life.  Which is to say, the more you nurture it with you time and positive attention, the more it thrives.  

Think of someone who’s extremely important to you – your child, for example, or a coworker, friend, or your spouse. What you will discover is that you actually carry a piece of this person’s energy with you wherever you go. Your internal relationship with them exists – whether you’re currently in the same room or thousands of miles apart.  And the reason you have a relationship with this person is due to all of the energy you’ve invested in it. 

You’ve spent time contemplating your relationship with this person even when you’re apart.  You’ve imagined your future together and recalled positive feelings you’ve shared together in the past.  And most of all, you eagerly anticipate all the positive experiences you’ll share with them in the future. And all of this has contributed to the quality of the relationship you now have with this person.  

Now just imagine for a moment that the opposite was true of the connection between you and this person. 

That instead of infusing your connection with this person with positive energy, you regularly thought about them in negative ways.  Instead of looking forward to enjoyable experiences in the future, you doubted whether you’d ever see them again.

How healthy would any relationship be if we routinely fed it with the energy of sadness or doubt?  And yet how often do we pollute the purity of our desires with this same low-level energy? 

Here are three fundamental skills that will support you in nurturing your inner relationship with your desires.  Practicing these just a few minutes each day will raise your vibration from doubt to positive, joyful expectation. 

Step #1 to strengthen your relationship with your desires:  Imagine. 

The first skill is being able to imagine your future desire as a fully formed reality.  You want to imagine it so vividly that you have a full sensory experience of it as already manifested.     

At this stage, allow yourself to dream as big and as freely as you can.   What do you really want to create and experience in each important aspect of your life?  

For now, try to release any preconceived notions of what’s possible and laser in on the purity of your desire.   In other words, give yourself permission to become more of a visionary than a realist. 

To strengthen the inner relationship between you and your desire, allow your imagination to run wild.

  • Do you imagine a future in which you are enjoying extraordinary physical wellbeing and stamina?
  • Do you desire to have easier access to your creativity or a more plentiful stream of great ideas?
  • Are you seeking greater financial prosperity, or to broaden your impact in the world?

Set aside your doubts for the time being and give yourself permission to be a visionary rather than a realist.  A visionary is someone who gives more credence to the power of imagination than the limitations of any present circumstance.  And when you have the courage to be a visionary, new possibilities and resources reveal themselves.  Allow yourself to engage your imagination to the fullest.  

Now that you have a clear vision of the reality you desire, the second part of the process is to “connect” with that vision.   

Step #2 to strengthen your relationship with your desires:  Connect. 

The second step is developing the ability to connect with your desire.  You want to invite its energy into your heart and mind.  The idea here is to feel in your body what it will feel like when your desire comes to fruition.   

Imagining uses the mind and intellect to strengthen your connection to your desire.  Connecting with your desire takes your relationship with it into the powerful realm of sensation and emotion.  

So just intend in this moment to become energetically aligned with the reality of your desire.  Feel your body in its balanced and ideal form.  Breathe into the sensation of clarity and free-flowing creativity.  Conjure the feeling of freedom of choice that comes with unlimited streams of income.  Allow your energy field to resonate in harmony with all that you desire.     

Step #3 to strengthen your relationship with your desires:  Expect

The third and final step is to expect that the reality you desire to create is already in the process of unfolding.  Cultivating a positive expectation is part believing and part focus.  First you need to believe that what you want is possible and that you are deserving of having it.  The second aspect is engaging your power of focus to scan for evidence of things moving in the right direction. 

To begin to cultivate a more positive expectation about your desire, keep a notebook of positive aspects. 

Make note of everything that is lining up in your favor, and of all the actions you’re taking that support your desire.  Reading this list daily will calibrate you in the direction of the success you seek. 

Remember that you are engaged in an intimate relationship with all that you desire.  And in order for any relationship to grow, it must be fed and nourished. The way you nourish your relationship with your desire is through your loving attention, imagination, and energy. Rather than giving in to doubt or insecurity, allow yourself to imagine, to connect, and to expect great things.

Why the “Fake it til You Make It” Approach Rarely Works – and How to Make it Work for You

 

There is one fundamental reason why the “fake it til you make it” approach fails.

And that reason is, most of us disregard the realm of energy and attempt only to alter our words and outer behaviors.  For example, we’re told to “dress for the job you want, not the job you have.”  But while this surface-level approach may lift your mood temporarily, it won’t create long-lasting results.  And this is because the universe does not respond to our words or even to our behaviors.  In this energy-based universe, the energy we generate from within returns to us in the external results we create.   

‘Faking it til you make it is about producing a specific vibration which the Law of Attraction can then respond to. 

Here are 3 principles to keep in mind to make the “fake it til you make it” approach work for you:

Principle #1:  To effectively ‘fake it til you make it,’ seek first to shift your state of being.  

Most pursue outer goals, hoping that the achievement will produce a shift in their inner state of being.   It’s just so tempting to conflate the accomplishment with the feeling we believe the accomplishment will bring! 

We say things (whether out loud or to ourselves) like:  “Once I get the promotion, I’ll feel respected in my career.”  Or, “When I earn X dollars per year, I’ll feel important and worthwhile.” We think, “Oh boy, when I’m on vacation, dangling my toes in the ocean, I’ll finally feel sensual and relaxed.”  

This way of thinking indefinitely postpones our happiness to some distant point in the future.  We keep thinking that once he hit the next goal, or the next one after that, we’ll feel great.  But that future destination never arrives.  It’s a moving target we never catch up to.

To effectively fake it til you make it, conjure the experience of how you want to feel right now.  

Faking it til you make it is not about using the right words or going through the motions.  It’s about causing a shift in your energy field.  And you always have the ability to do this, no matter what your current circumstances.  

Simply call to mind an achievement you believe will make you happy, then contemplate it as your present-moment reality. Imagine it with as much color and intensity as possible.  Feel the sensations you believe you will feel once this outcome has been achieved.   

In your mind’s eye, seat yourself behind the desk in your new corner office.  Position yourself at the podium on your book tour.  Feel the sensations of freedom and accomplishment as you rejoice in the number of zeros on your bank statement.  

In your mind and in your gut, play with the feeling of having fulfilled every one of your goals until this vibration is deeply familiar to you. Tune into this emotional touchstone often – like punching the preset button of your favorite radio station.  And visit this channel often until it becomes the most popular one on your dial.

Principle #2:  To successfully ‘fake it til you make it,” imagine slipping into your desired reality like a custom-made suit. 

Think of something that you deeply desire to create. Maybe it’s to create a larger stream of money and abundance into your life.  Or maybe you desire to improve your organizational skills or expand your creativity.   And now, connecting with the energetic frequency of this new reality, imagine stepping into it like a piece of clothing.    

Think of this as deliberately shedding the frumpy energy suit you’ve been wearing and literally stepping into a brand-new reality. Faking it til you make it is about revealing a new possibility for your life that’s distinct from anything you’ve lived before.

You first have to connect with the feeling essence of what you desire, and then own that feeling by wearing it, being it, and taking it with you everywhere you go.   Reach beyond the realm of what already is and anchor yourself in the realm where everything you desire already exists. 

Principle #3: Do not limit yourself by what currently is.  Use your power as a deliberate creator to connect with the reality you desire.  

It’s relatively easy to feel loved when you’re in a great relationship. But if you’re recently heartbroken or have been single for years, achieving this feeling state will require more focus.   

In the same way, it’s easy to feel abundant when money is easily rolling in.  But what about when you’re in a bad financial situation or worried about the strength of the economy?  These are the moments when we have to look beyond the conditions that have already manifested.   Honing this skill is what makes us deliberate creators.  We become visionaries who chart our own courses instead of travelers who simply follow the paths that have already been charted.

Faking it til you make it is about consciously creating your own reality.

To effectively fake it til you make it, call into your awareness the soft presence of your desire. Feel the energy of it. Notice that this reality vibrates at a particular frequency, and your desire is actually calling you up to this higher frequency. Feel yourself connecting with this frequency on an energetic level.  Allow yourself to harmonize and become one with the vibration of your desire.

And now, from the stance of already feeling at one with the reality you desire, take it a step further.  

Allow yourself to become aware of any actions that would support you in integrating even further with the vibration of your desire. What thoughts, emotions, and attitudes would align you even further? What communications could you initiate that would establish you more firmly in this higher frequency? 

If you were completely at one with the energy of your desire, what choices, practices, and actions would you naturally and easily take?  Allow the energy of what you want to guide your every thought, word, and attitude.  This is the Energy Mastery secret to “faking it til you make it.”

Here’s Why Searching For Happiness Will Leave You Deeply Unhappy – and a Process for Finding Happiness Within

 

Lots of people are walking around with some pretty antiquated notions about happiness.  Some of us believe we’ll be happy as soon as we achieve success in our careers.  Others conflate happiness with achieving a particular status, like getting married or having a baby.  And many others still believe that happiness is something that only money can buy.  But here’s the irony: Searching for happiness in external conditions actually blocks us from receiving the love, fulfillment and abundance we’re really seeking.  

Here’s why searching for happiness might be making you deeply unhappy.  And a proven, inside-out approach to happiness that will instantly lift your mood in any circumstance or situation.

The “outside-in” approach to searching for happiness can leave us perpetually unhappy.    

Most of us were conditioned to take what I call an “outside-in” approach to happiness.  If this approach were written as a formula, it would look something like this:  “When I achieve X, then I will feel Y.”  And of course, each of us solves for Y according to our own value systems.  Some of us believe the happiness we seek will come to us when we finally find the right man.  Others believe happiness lies on the other side of becoming a parent or landing that big promotion. Some believe their search for happiness will be over when they reach their ideal body weight or clothing size.  Still, others equate it to moving into the house of their dreams.  

To some extent, all of us have bought into this “inside-out” mindset.  We honestly believe that attaining some external condition or object will bring us the internal fulfillment we seek.  

But there is a huge downside to searching for happiness in possessions, people, or achievements.  For one, it sets us on a never-ending quest for the next achievement and the next one after that.  The happiness we seek is like a mirage in the desert.  We keep striving toward it but never reach the promised land.  

Chasing happiness is like trying to track down an ever-moving target.

And here’s the second downside of taking an outside-in approach when searching for happiness:  We often exhaust ourselves in the process.  And this means that even when we achieve the outer goal, our pleasure is short-lived because we’re burned out from the search.   

Adopting an “inside-out” approach provides freedom to both these “searching for happiness” traps.

The “inside-out approach to happiness is the key to manifesting what you really desire.

Behind every single thing we desire – big or small, material or intangible, superficial or deep – is a longing to experience a certain feeling. Think about the specific conditions you believe would forever end your search for happiness.  It might be to meet your soulmate, transform your body, experience more success in your career, or make more money. 

The underlying reason you want these things is that you believe having them will make you feel a certain way.  But as we’ve explored, chasing possessions for the happiness we hope they’ll bring leaves us empty and unfulfilled.  To take a more sustainable, inside-out approach, you need only ask yourself one question:  Why do I want this?   

If you equate happiness with having more money, for example, it’s not because you like the looks of the paper.  You want it because you are longing to experience a deep, essential feeling you believe the money will bring.  It might be a feeling of worthiness, of empowerment, of self-love, of freedom…  And this feeling is the internal essence of your desire.  

By connecting with the internal essence of your desire, you will end your search for happiness for good. 

No matter what you want to create in the outer world, what you are really seeking is the feeling of this internal “essence.”  And learning how to vibrate in energetic resonance with the essence of what you want is the secret to manifesting it.

Here are 3 steps for vibrating in harmony with the happiness you desire:

  • Once you’ve identified what you believe will make you happy, begin to ask yourself, “Why?”  In other words, how do you think you’ll feel when your search for happiness is complete?  In what ways do you believe that manifesting your desire will change you as a person?     
  • Next, Imagine that your search for happiness is now complete.  Now allow yourself to connect to the bottom-line feeling or energy that you believe you’ll feel.  Is it joy?  Abundance?  Freedom?  Love?   This is the energy you’ve truly been reaching for in your search for happiness, so connect it energetically and emotionally.   Feel its essence in your heart.  Feel it in your belly (your power center).  Allow the vibration of this energy to permeate your entire body and radiate out through every cell of your being.   
  • And finally, allow this new energetic set point to guide your thoughts and actions.  Move through your life while remaining connected to this energy, allowing it to guide you in new ways.     

Remember that the inner satisfaction you’re really seeking doesn’t necessarily come about as a result of external circumstances. The late, great comedian George Carlin expressed this point beautifully.   “Trying to be happy by accumulating possessions is like trying to satisfy hunger by taping sandwiches all over your body,” he said.   

By taking an inside-out approach, you can connect directly with the energy that is driving your search for happiness.  This is not just the secret to feeling happier, but, in time, to manifesting all that you desire.
