appreciate what you have

Here’s something to consider:  In this moment, you are setting yourself up for, and actually planning, the next moments that will unfold in your life.  This means that the energy you are generating within you is setting the table, so to speak, for everything that’s to come.   When you lament and complain about things that are not to your liking, you only attract more displeasing people and experiences. But when you appreciate what you have, right now, you open the door to more.  This is because what you appreciate, appreciates in value and becomes more.

Here then are powerful 3 daily practices to help you appreciate all that you are and everything you have.

Appreciation Step #1:  Understand that you are an energy receiver and transmitter, and therefore, how you feel in every moment is vitally important.

We are energetic beings living in an energetic universe, in a constant vibrational relationship with everything that surrounds us.  

A helpful way to understand this is by envisioning an energy tower.  Like a radio tower, you are broadcasting and receiving sending energetic signals all day, every day.

You send out these signals by:

  • the thoughts you think (even privately to yourself)
  • the beliefs and perspectives you hold (whether you’re aware of them or not)
  • the emotions you feel (including those you try not to feel)
  • the words you use (even silently to yourself), and
  • the actions you take

All of these are transmissions of energy that you are sending out into the Universe.  And, thanks to the boomerang of Law of Attraction, the quality of energy you send out is what comes back.   

When you understand this, you understand that the events and circumstances of our lives don’t just happen “to” us.  We invite and attract all things into our experience by virtue of the vibration we are offering in every moment.  

Your feelings, beliefs, and expectations actually draw potential circumstances out of the ethers and into your life experience. Put simply, you attract into your life the people, situations, and outcomes that are harmonic with the vibration you are sending out.  And the vibration generated from appreciating what you have brings entirely different results than the vibration of criticism of lack. 

The quality of your life experiences – your health and vitality, your financial abundance, and the amount of joy you feel – is always a reflection of the quality of energy you are emitting in every moment.  By consciously choosing the thoughts, emotions, attitudes, and perspectives you offer, you can absolutely change the conditions you draw into your life.  

Appreciation Step #2:  Readjust your mindset.

In this vibrationally-based universe, harmonious energies are drawn together, where they gather in momentum and strength.  And our mindset – AKA the way we perceive life in any given moment in time – is what determines our energetic flow.  There’s just no way to appreciate what we have when we’re viewing life through the lens of what’s wrong.  We have to at least be open to another, broader perspective to make this shift. 

So, how do you make the jump from lack or fear back into appreciation?

Anytime you become aware of a problem of a shortage of any kind, you have the ability to mentally place yourself on the other side of it.  And the very fact that you’re able to picture a better, brighter reality means that this alternate reality is possible, and entirely accessible to you. But only you can make the choice about the frequency you’re going to dwell in. You can choose to focus on all that’s lacking or to appreciate all that you have. It really is as simple as that.    

Contrasting or unwanted experiences will always be a part of life, but they need not stop you from appreciating what is.  Contrast is what makes life as we know it possible.  

In the same way that our eyes cannot see light without darkness, problems must exist in order for us to find solutions.  Without hunger, we would never have the experience of feeling satisfied.  And in the same way, criticism and appreciation are two sides of the same coin.  And we are the choice-makers who decide in every moment on which end of this spectrum we will focus. 

Appreciation for what you have will flow easily when you become practiced at looking for and imagining solutions.  This begins by understanding that every moment of stress or tension is simply making you aware that a higher reality is calling you.  And your job is to make the jump to that higher reality, as quickly and seamlessly as possible.

Appreciation Step #3:  Take an objective accounting of all the good in your life, and all the good in the world.

How many of the gifts of our lives go unopened?  

Attention produces the same powerful results in our lives that life-giving water provides to plants:  What we place our attention on thrives and grows. And what we do not pay attention to, in time, loses energy and ceases to be part of our experience.  

Appreciation is one of the highest forms of attention that you can give.  By placing your attention on all that that is already working and thriving in your life, you truly encourage those gifts to grow and become more.  

And so, if you desire more abundance, more love, for ease or more joy, the equation for this is simple:  Reflect on your life as it is at this moment and actively notice the aspects of it that you most appreciate.   How many things are going supremely well for you?  Who and what brings you joy? 

Feeding these things with your daily attention is what keeps them alive and growing and in the process of becoming more.  

Each day, ask yourself these powerful questions:

  • What do I already feel appreciation about?
  • What could I choose to feel appreciate?
  • In general, what types of experiences do I appreciate?
  • What memories from my past or thoughts about my future put me into a state of appreciation?

The more vibrations of appreciation you generate within you, the more you will attract from the universe at large things to appreciate.  And remember, it does not matter if these thoughts are about the past, present or future.  The Universe responds to the vibration you are offering right now.
