live in the moment

Learning to live in the moment is critical to manifesting the desires you hold most dear.  And this is because your only point of power is in the now.

In each new moment, you are offering a vibration to which the entire universe is responding.  Right here, right now, you are making a critical choice to carry over yesterday’s perceptions, conclusions, and hurt feelings, or to start fresh.  You make the choice to rehash past failures or to focus your attention deliberately toward what you want to create.  When you live in the moment with deliberate intent, you view everything that’s happened in the past as an ally rather than a hindrance.

Here are 3 daily practices to help you live more consciously in the moment:

Live in the Moment Practice #1:  Reclaim the energy you have scattered in the future and in the past.

Tying up your energy in either the past or the future drastically diminishes your power to create in the present moment.

Reliving past disappointments blinds you to present possibilities.  Likewise, if you’re constantly striving for a better future, you’ll deny yourself the pleasure of enjoying what is.  In this case, life becomes a constant struggle to achieve more, better and different conditions.  And in so doing, we forsake the incredible happiness that’s available to us in the moment.

Carrying the past into the present has equally devastating results.  Basically, it’s permitting the fact that you haven’t yet manifested something you desire to dictate what’s possible for you going forward.

Rather than repeating the past, you can mine the gifts of the past.

For example, let’s say that historically, you and your spouse have always butted heads about a particular issue.  If you choose to relive all of the past conflicts and brace yourself for more turmoil, you’re simply unavailable for things to turn out any other way.

Instead, you could make the choice to live in the moment.  You could take some deep breaths and consciously leave the past in the past, taking with you only the clarity of what is wanted.

In this instance, what you desire might be a feeling of harmony between you. Or a spirit of cooperation, understanding, respect, or appreciation.  There is no one-size-fits-all answer because each of us gives birth to unique desires based on the unique experiences we’ve lived.

To realize the full benefit of living in the moment, mine from your past the wisdom of what you now desire, then give your undivided attention to what you want to create.  Don’t split the potency of your creative energy by thinking about what’s gone wrong in the past.  Instead, give in to the freshness of this present moment.  As the Greek philosopher, Heraclitus noted, “You can’t step into the same river twice, because new water is always flowing in.”

Every new moment is a brand new opportunity to create what you desire.  To make the most of this opportunity, remind yourself of what you desire in each situation you enter.  Breathe in the energy of the reality you want to create.  And then, fully anchored in and living in the present moment, look for evidence that what you desire is already in the process of manifesting around you.

Live in the Moment Practice #2:  Focus on what’s good enough, what’s sufficient, and what’s satisfying about this present moment.

How often do we diminish the joy of living in the moment by focusing on what’s wrong with the present?

It seems to be our human preset to automatically notice what’s wrong, what’s missing, or what could be going better in just about every interaction.  And when we’re focused on what is not yet satisfying, our personal vibration is laden with resistance, angst, and yearning.  Then, even though we desperately want things to turn out differently, we end up pushing away the very outcomes we desire to create.

Viewing life from the lens of lack and insufficiency is torturous.  First, it deprives us of the incredible benefit of aligning our energies with our desire.  And second – and even more costly – in focusing on lack, we deprive ourselves of the joy of the present moment.

But by redirecting your attention from what’s missing to the presence of abundance and appreciation within you, we can shift your entire point of attraction.

Your point of attraction is your most powerful, in-the-moment resource.

Your point of attraction is the sum total of the thoughts, beliefs, and emotions you are broadcasting in each new moment.  When your thoughts are flying high and your mood is joyful, it’s because your point of attraction is, at that moment, aligned with your desires.  And when your experience is one of doubt, despair, or frustration, these emotions simply indicate that you’re at cross-purposes with your own desire.

Your point of attraction is the most powerful resource you have in each new moment of your life. It’s like a lighthouse shining a signal that brings home every desire floating out there in the sea of pure potentiality – or prevents it from ever reaching the shore.  Your point of attraction determines whether you generate upward momentum or downward spirals.  It invites either open doors and green lights or detours and dead ends.  But the really good news is, you always have the power to change your point of attraction because you alone have the ability to change the direction of your focus.

To shift your point of attraction from lack to abundance, simply begin to advocate for your own success.  Deliberately bring to mind all of the reasons why you are now closer to having what you desire than you’ve ever been before.  You might say things to yourself such as, “I now have more clarity about what I really want and why. I have more tools available to me at this moment than at any other time in my life. I am understanding more and more about how manifestations occur, and I am becoming more masterful at directing my energy.” Deliberately advocate for your own success by bringing to mind all of the evidence that already points to it.

Live in the Moment Practice #3:  Decide at the beginning of each new day, or each new segment of your day, what type of energy you desire to perpetuate.

When we’re dwelling in the past or fretting about the future, we blunder into each day in a state of half-awareness.  One of the most immediate ways to bring yourself into the present moment is to deliberately activate the quality of energy you wish to broadcast.

Think of the range of vibrations we can experience as human beings like a giant palate of color.  At one end of the spectrum are high-flying, good-feeling frequencies like inspiration, clarity, love, appreciation, and lightheartedness.  And at the other end of this continuum are bad-feeling frequencies like powerlessness, despair, regret, and frustration.  In each moment, you have the ability to choose which frequency you broadcast – and therefore which frequencies Law of Attraction will magnify in your experience.  In the same way a painter chooses his color spectrum before he begins creating his art, you can choose your frequency in advance of every interaction.

You can choose to paint each new moment with the colors of your liking.  You can decide in advance how you want to show up and how you want to feel.  And in so doing, you set yourself up to experience that in every aspect of your life you can think of.

The present moment is alive with infinite possibilities.  And to make the most of each “now” moment, make the choice to shift your focus away from lack and into abundance.  Focus on the presence of what you desire, not on its absence.  Align your personal energy field with the fruition of all that you desire.  Use your mind to find sufficiency and satisfaction in each new moment.  And know that wherever you direct your focus in this powerful moment, the Law of Attraction will add to and magnify and expand.
