We all have areas of our lives where we’re not experiencing all the joy, peace, love, and success we desire. On the one hand, we consciously want more of those things; but on the other, we’re unconsciously resisting them. And what happens when your conscious and unconscious minds are locked in this kind of stalemate? You end up expending a lot of energy, experience struggle and fatigue, but don’t get any closer to your desires.
The solution doesn’t lie in working harder or becoming more determined. The solution lies in releasing your resistance to the very outcomes you’re already working hard to achieve. These 3 energy mastery steps will show you how to release resistance and effortlessly attract more of what you desire.
Step One: Bring your full awareness to the experience or condition you desire to change.
In every moment, your emotions let you know how inline or out of synch you are with all that you desire. Feelings of ease, interest, enthusiasm, and joy indicate that you’re in harmony with your goals. And uncomfortable feelings such as frustration, anxiety, lethargy, or despair indicate that you’re nowhere near where you’d like to be.
Our emotions in every moment simply reflect the mixture of energy that’s within us. And the presence of bad-feeling emotions always indicates we’re carrying resistance that ultimately isn’t helpful.
Awareness is your greatest ally in releasing this resistance. Anytime you feel yourself caught up in judgment or struggle, see how much of your resistance you can let go.
And so, to embrace this first step of awareness, bring to mind an area of life where you desire change. Allow yourself to simply notice and be with this situation exactly as it is, without trying to change your experience of it.
As you soften into your experience at the moment, a universal truth will be revealed: This situation holds valuable wisdom that is vital to you moving forward. And all you need to do to claim this wisdom is to release your resistance.
Using Awareness to Release Resistance
As you lean into a situation that isn’t to your liking, allow yourself to notice the past energy that created it. This unwanted condition is simply a result of old thinking, outworn beliefs, and behaviors that no longer reflect who you’re becoming. And the contrast of living what you don’t want is leading you swiftly toward what you do. As you release your resistance, you allow this natural process to occur.
Without awareness, nothing can change. Give thanks for your awareness, even of things unwanted. Awareness of what is not wanted sends off the first powerful rocket of desire for something new, improved, and expanded. Nothing can evolve or move forward without this awareness.
Step Two: Accept that, for this moment at least, this situation simply is what it is.
Resistant thoughts and feelings obstruct the natural flow of ease, joy, and abundance – like a blockage in a pipe. As Deepak Chopra writes in The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, “When you struggle against this moment, you are struggling against the entire universe.” In those moments when our outer experience is not a match to our inner desires, what is called for is not resistance, but acceptance.
The moment we accept ourselves and our situation exactly as it is, we feel relief. And in this relaxed state, we become open to rather than blocked off from the very experiences we’re seeking. Rather than fighting against what is, we yield to and harmonize with the energy of what’s happening now. Acceptance of what is, right now in this moment, is the only doorway through which a bigger and brighter future can emerge
Acceptance may look like a passive state, or like giving up. But it’s actually one of the most powerful energetic stances we can take. By simply accepting what is so, we release our resistance, which allows circumstances to evolve and change. Acceptance brings us peace of mind and allows us to feel appreciation for even the imperfect situations in our lives.
Step Three: Allow in that which you desire.
From a stable foundation of awareness and acceptance, you are now in a position to allow what you desire to flow into your experience.
By acknowledging and accepting what is so, you release the emotional charge from any unwanted situation. The energy is now free to flow, and you are more receptive to ideas, opportunities, and other helpful resources.
Releasing the weight of resistance is actually like removing the blinders that distort our ability to perceive. We stop wasting energy in blame and judgment and can move more swiftly into solution mode.
Contained within whatever unwanted situation you’re currently dealing with is the essence of what you would desire instead. By identifying this essence, and consciously inviting it into your energy field, you become a cooperative component to the change you desire.
And so, if your current situation has you struggling, begin to conjure what greater ease would feel like. If resources are tight, allow yourself to remember a time when abundance was free-flowing.
When you change your energy about any situation, the situation will change to match your energy. This is a universal law.
Affirm to yourself that the peace, the love, the joy, the success you desire already exists in energetic form. And by shifting your energy through the stages of awareness, acceptance, and allowing, you place yourself in vibrational proximity of all that you desire.
